The NRD is a regional government agency that protects ground and surface water, reduces flood threats, slows the effects of soil erosion, creates and enhances wildlife habitat and much more. Governed by an elected Board of Directors and working with other public agencies and citizen groups, the NRD emphasizes creation of cost-efficient, multi-purpose projects that create “Quality of Life” opportunities in the Greater Omaha area while enhancing our natural resources. Each year, the Board of Directors of the reviews all NRD program and project activities and determines a budget necessary to carry out our mission. NRD revenue includes the tax levy, bonds, federal and state cost sharing for specific projects and income from Improvement Project Areas. Elected in 2012 with 53 percent of the vote and re-elected in 2016 with 63 percent.
