About Patrick Limpus

As an entrepreneur my forte is product and business development. I have a great track record finding niche and mainstream products and bringing them to mass market. It's not easy, it's hard work and there are no short cuts. However, in the end hard work always pays off. This journey has been hands on and has given me experience at board level, as a non-exec and with working with external financial and legal advisors as well as with Private Equity investors. I split my time between acting as a agent for Spanish brands, managing my own brand and advising smaller businesses on their route to market.

As a mentor to businesses like nutrii, I bring a bit of grey hair to the table. At nutrii our high protein quark was inspired by the Nordic diet, high in protein, low in fat, and with no added sugar, no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Made in the UK with British milk and paying dairy farmers a fair price for milk our range has secured listings in Sainbury's and in Co-op.

Primal Pantry, on a mission to get people to make better snacking choices. Armed with a blender, some fruit, nuts and spices Suzie got to work making my own and The Primal Pantry was born.Initial samples went down a storm with 21,000 snack bars sold on pre-order via our DIY website. In our second year we hit two milestones, the sale of our millionth bar and a turnover of £1 million with listings in Waitrose, Sainsburys, Tesco, Ocado and Holland & Barrett. We raised Private Equity investment and secured further listings in WH Smiths and Co-op and grew our range of the cleanest bars on the market. A subsequent round of investment was secure to further support the brand and to help secure listings in BP, Asda and Morrisons. We’re a small team with big ideas, tasty products. They’re not cheap but we’re not going to apologise for that. Quality ingredients are expensive. We should stop asking why real food is so expensive and instead question why processed food is so cheap. Show less

  • The Sauce Kitchen (& Gourmet Freezer Co)
    Founder
The Sauce Kitchen (& Gourmet Freezer Co) Jan 2010 - Jan 2012
    Surrey
With more than 10 years in the food industry I knew how good frozen foods could be and should be. Made from good natural and store cupboard ingredients our sauces needed none of the nasty factory ingredients which creep into much of our food. Freshly frozen they locked in nutritional values and were always there when you needed them and were not wasted if you didn't. Made from good natural and store cupboard ingredients our sauces needed none of the nasty factory ingredients which creep into much of our food. Freshly frozen they locked in nutritional values and were always there when you needed them and were not wasted if you didn't. The Gourmet Freezer Company & The Sauce Kitchen were part of my crusade to drive change and make a difference, after all we probably all eat far more frozen food than we realise and we love it! The Gourmet Freezer Company was the sole voice of provenance in the freezer and through which we planned to build an exciting gourmet destination within the freezer aisles, encourage wider innovation, attract new suppliers to work alongside us and accelerate the category. Slightly ahead of our time, we managed to generate press (including radio) and consumer engagement in the real benefits of frozen foods (great tasting foods with provenance, no factory ingredients and reduced waste). The Sauce Kitchen range launched into Waitrose, Sainbury's and Ocado as well as independent food retailers. I moved to Daiwa Europe to manage the interest rate hedging on the Debt Syndicate desk where I worked for two years before being invited to join the debt origination team as CS First Boston. There, I covered the Asian and Australasian sovereign borrowers and agencies as well as the financial institutions. As a Director of Debt Syndicate at Greenwich Natwest I worked closely with the syndicate team and the corporate finance teams on all manner of Eurobond issues including sovereign, financial institutions and corporate fund raisers. Interest rates were at historically low levels and the search for yield became a huge driver for the debt markets as what might previously have been perceived as "junk" was edging closer to investment grade. Whilst so much of life in the Financial markets was in many ways entrepreneurial I left the City to follow a lifelong passion to be even more entrepreneurial. Show less
