Development and commercialization of novel industrial water treatment processes and flowsheets from the laboratory to full scale installation with a focus on contaminant removal and value recovery. Co-inventor of Selen-IX, a selenium treatment technology developed for the mining sector.Role includes responsibilities in engineering, R&D, business development, and regulatory engagement, such as:-Provide technical supervision and oversight for development and improvement of new/existing technologies for industrial water treatment -Conduct/manage treatment technology selection, process modelling, mass balance, and engineering design for water treatment plants at different stages of project definition, from conceptual through IFC-Prepare experimental test plans and direct execution at the laboratory and pilot scale-Act as key client contact for new and ongoing contracts-Engage with regulatory authorities and governments (provincial, federal, First Nations) on behalf of clients-Write and review a wide variety of technical documentation, reports and papers-Keep up to date on technical/competitive landscape in mine water treatment and management to understand market needs, develop new business, and help inform internal R&D priorities

Development of a novel, selective elution process for recovering nickel/cobalt from ion exchange resin, useful in the context industrial nickel laterite flowsheets. The use of this process would improve the efficiency of industrial nickel/cobalt refineries. Currently in the patent application stage.Additional research in the area of fundamental behaviour of ion exchange resin, development and characterization of novel ion exchange resins, and acid mine drainage remediation.

Tutoring and lecturing for several undergraduate chemical engineering courses, including reactor design, heat and mass balances, and hydrometallurgy. Led and supervised undergraduate laboratory classes with a focus on safety and application of theory to plant practice.

Studied the enhancing effect of pyrite on the kinetics of ferrous oxidation by oxygen in the context of atmospheric sulphide leaching. Worked to develop models and experimental programs for the Galvanox chalcopyrite technology. Characterized ore samples through scanning electron microscopy, diagnostic leaching, particle size distribution analysis, and XRD-Rietveld analysis.
