I am a Principal Researcher with the MSR Security and Cryptography group at Microsoft Research in Redmond, USA.My current interest mostly lies on post-quantum cryptography, designing, analyzing and implementing cryptographic schemes that are secure against classical and (future) quantum computer attacks. I am part of two large projects: SIKE (https://sike.org/) and FrodoKEM (https://frodokem.org/), which are 3rd round candidates in the ongoing post-quantum cryptography standardization process organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).In the past I have also worked on elliptic curve and pairing-based cryptography, designing efficient algorithms and writing high-performance cryptographic libraries.I completed my Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (1999), my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Ottawa (2007), and my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo (2011).Some time during my Master's my focus switched completely to studying all aspects related to cryptography.
