Like many people interested in games journalism, I feel like video games have had their place in shaping my life. Growing up in a small town without any athletic inclination, and coupled with childhood asthma, games were my thing growing up, and the memories of the weekends I could go out and rent a game still linger in my head.When it comes to writing about video games, I try to focus on two major things. The first is the personal experience of a video game, whether it's my own or someone else's - games are an experience that depends on the person playing them, so making sure those personal touches are present when I write is very important.Second, I like to look at game design from a perspective of the player, not from a technical standpoint. You may think not knowing anything about game design would limit me, but I prefer to write about how one can see and feel good game design when they're playing a game. A game that is well designed is an experience in and of itself.
