Responsible for the general management of Maple Leaf Foods’ retail fresh and prepared meats business in Canada and the U.S. Responsibilities span marketing, commercial strategy, product development, and commercial execution. Focused on nurturing growth initiatives in partnership with our Retail customers and in service to North American consumers.

Scope: Lead team of 18 with P&L ownership for $1.4B portfolio representing 27% market share of the Canadian prepared meat market with the #1 and #2 brands in most categories (Snacking, Deli, Bacon, Ham, Wieners, Sausages, & Meal Solutions)Assigned as Project Champion for company’s largest brand renovation ever. Oversaw the overhaul of over 300 products under Maple Leaf, Schneiders and Swift to deliver on the new brand standards. Impact: Stabilized chronic volume declines and returned business to profit growth with 8% improvement from 2017 to 2019 and further accelerating success into 2021 Oversaw development of innovation initiatives for new platforms in snacking kits, meat snacks, meal solutions and artisanal deli meats. Impact: Strong early success in market. Maple Leaf Prepped & Ready and Schneiders Protein Kits innovations won a 2021 Best New Product Award from Brand Spark as voted on by consumers.

Scope: Led team of 30 responsible for Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Sales & Operations Planning, Inventory Management & Deployment, and 3PL Warehousing.Implemented new S&OP process focused on enhanced forecasting, new monthly rhythm, and clear accountabilities resulting in improved fill rates from mid-90s to over 98% and cut aged product losses in half increasing total profit margin by 50 bps. Partnered with VP Transportation to achieve over $6M in annual freight efficiencies moving inter-region DC replenishment to inter-modal, reducing use of expedited freight and increasing direct ship from plant to out-of-region DC. Supporting planning practices were critical to ensuring logistics savings while delivering on retailer service level expectations and maintaining stable production plans. Redesigned workflow enabling team restructuring resulting in over 20% SG&A reduction while also improving team performance and productivity. Awarded CEO/COO award for delivering winning results focused on fulfilling customer orders in full with the freshest product at the lowest cost-to-serve.
