Patrick Lévy is 70 years old. He has been professor of Physiology at Grenoble Alpes University, France until 2022 and is currently Emeritus professor. He has been president of Joseph Fourier University, one of the leading scientific universities in France, also ranked among the best 200 universities by the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities 2012-16. He has been the head of the Hypoxia Pathophysiology Laboratory (HP2) certified by Joseph Fourier University and Inserm (2003-2016). He has been recently reelected president of the Université Numérique En Santé et Sport (UNESS.fr) , a national consortium on digital education in healthcare and sport and exercise (2012-2015, 2015-2018). He had been president of the French Sleep Society (SFRMS) (1999-2001), founder and president of the National Sleep Foundation (INSV) (2000-7), member of the executive committee of the European Respiratory Society (2005-8) and VP of the European Sleep Research Society (2008-12). Patrick Lévy has been involved in Sleep Disordered Breathing for the last 25 years. . He has produced more than 330 international articles. The most effective research strategy has been to combined cardiovascular phenotyping of Sleep Disordered Breathing with experimental data using normal volunteers exposed to Intermittent Hypoxia (IH) as well as IH in rodents. In recognition of his continuous and extraordinary contribution to medical education in the respiratory field, he received the Jean-Claude Yernault Lecture award in September 2013, award given for the first time to a French scientist, a recognition of the clinical and experimental research efforts that have been done by his group for the last 25 years in Grenoble.He has been involved in the academic development of Grenoble site since 2012 as Joseph Fourier President since end 2015, as the first president of the Grenoble Alpes University Community Dec 2015 and Université Grenoble Alpes president from Jan 2018 to Jan 2020. In Jan 2016, IDEX Grenoble Alpes University was labelled Initiative of Excellence. This was definitively confirmed in July 2021.He is currently chairing the board of Agiradom. He has been sleep medical director of Bioserenity, a leading company in sleep services and EEG (July 2021 - 2024). He is currently the president and medical director of Aqodi.
