I am an educator and champion of student leadership. As a high school band director for 17 years at one of the largest band programs in the southeast, I regularly taught my students far more than music -- we brought life-lessons to our classes through engaging presentations, fruitful conversations, and relational connection using Growing Leaders Habitudes curriculum. Kevin Atlas once described me as “the coolest band director I’ve ever met.”My passion for leadership also led me to co-found the Cobb Student Leadership Academy, the largest district-wide student leadership initiative in the state of Georgia -- impacting over 500 middle and high school students since its inception.I now serve as the Director of Curriculum for Growing Leaders, where we utilize my expertise to develop fresh new ways for teachers to reach their students with life skills, social and emotional learning concepts, and leadership through the power of transformational images, stories, and experiences.I am a confident, positive, intentional, courageous risk-taker who is willing to take responsibility for my decisions. I am an expressive communicator with a heart for developing leaders through speaking, teaching, and writing. I possess a love of learning: taking in new input and improvising new strategies to make things better. I have a knack for diplomacy, hearing all sides of a problem and bringing people together. I want my legacy to be that I helped people become better leaders, have healthier marriages, and understand how diverse groups of people can work together to improve our world.
