People have asked why we call ourselves Big Buddha Bakery instead of Buddha Bakery.It’s a good question—we would like to clarify that it has nothing to do with weight or eating lots of bread.In Buddhism, there is a concept of Big Mind or Buddha Mind that pervades the whole universe as opposed to small mind: narrow, self-centered. Big transcends all boundaries, limitations and categories such as religion, race, gender, good, bad or ugly. We aspire to create our food and lead our lives with this spirit in the hope that each pizza, each cookie, each person, each place, each loaf, and each bite is, at least for a moment, the whole universe just as it is.

Intensive 8 months immersion in Zen Buddhist monastery through daily structured work practice and meditation in a disciplined tight-knit community setting.• Intensive study of Zen meditation & mindfulness curriculum under a zen master.• Daily wake up 4am, 18 hour days with 2 hours off. The rest of the day consists of meditation, chanting, meals, prep, cleaning, chores, study, and meetings• Responsibilities included community/project development and facilities upkeep. Tasks included lodging/hospitality preparation and service for retreat guests, furnace system overhaul, road repair, plowing, construction projects, electrical work, and plumbing.• Two live-in stints - 5 months in 2012, and 3 months in 2020.

Lead the field team on 1M+ field work. Procurement, training, on-site management, quality control, sub-metering and reporting. Built foundation for the following departments from the ground up: HR, R&D, Operations, Accounting.Developed marketing and sales campaigns targeting large building owners in NYC and the tri-state area.Managed and implemented digital strategies for energy efficiency analysis, email marketing, website design, and social media.

Oversaw the installation of Ener.co's proprietary coating on commercial HVAC units throughout the tri-state region. I also managed R&D procedures for testing, developing and perfecting Enercoat. In addition to these tasks I handled hiring, M&V and data analysis.

Best learning experience of my life. A buddy and I sailed a 30' sail boat 5000 miles beginning and ending in Boston, MA getting as far south as the Dominican Republic and Cuba. I had never sailed before, my friend had only sailed short races growing up. We got ourselves into more than a few sticky situations.
