Project involves assisting in the planning and construction of a new hybrid MBE system• Selected suitable volatile metalorganic precursor compounds for use in hybrid MBE. Criteria were developed to select precursors likely to produce defect-free films of oxides that had not yet been synthesized with MBE• Designed gas inlet system to deliver precursor compounds to MBE growth chamber. Gas inlet system uses capacitive manometer and linear leak valve to deliver precisely controlled quantities of precursor gas• Designed four-point bending apparatus to measure the effect of strain on the electrical transport properties of Hall bar samples of oxide thin films
