My name is Patrick Martin. I am a Psychotherapist/Social Worker/Advocate/Case Manager (our kind wear a lot of hats!). I studied at Loma Linda University and earned a Master’s degree in both Social Work and Criminal Justice.I am certified as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist through the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. I also have certifications in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (an intervention for those suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (for treatment of depression) and in the Seeking Safety model (for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Chemical Dependence.I practice full-time as a mental health therapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (and other forums). As such, I service a wide range of clientele from various backgrounds, socioeconomic class, and mental health status (Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Depression, Life Transition…you get the idea).I am also contracted with the Superior Court, as a mental health professional, recruited by attorneys to conduct assessment for the court and provide recommendations.I have a private practice, conducting tele-health services.I am passionate about raising mental health awareness and skills for personal development and created The Mental Health Toolbox (YouTube Channel, Podcast, Blog) as my passion project to that end.In addition to the delivery of direct mental health services to the general public , I have experience in working directly with foster youth, gang youth, the homeless and those with co-occurring diagnoses (substance abuse).In my day job, my regular schedule consists of conducting psychological assessments, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, consultation, case management and community outreach.In the years that I have been practicing, I have learned of the many unique struggles of the human condition, and the many interventions for targeting their specific needs (and I am continuing to learn daily). On a more personal note, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two girls, learn life-hacks for being more productive, working on my blog and podcast to raise mental health awareness and researching ways to live healthier.
