An opportunity to help others achieve their goals through preconstruction is right up my alley. When I was a child, I wanted to be an architect or a builder because my father worked in construction and politics. He was always there to help people, so I knew I wanted to be in the field. I worked in a variety of construction jobs after high school and during college and acquired my BS in Construction Management. I've only worked for two companies in my commercial specialty contracting career. I believe being loyal to a group or corporation may help you advance professionally, develop new skills, and feel like you're part of something bigger. Commercial specialty contracting is a lot of fun, and I've had a lot of different roles over the years, from entry level to executive level. This has kept me striving for excellence and bringing my strengths to the table in order to win as a team. People collaborate to achieve a common goal during the preconstruction phase of construction. I enjoy building connections and collaborating with people to ensure a successful deal. I assist customers and business owners in making the best decisions possible. It's my goal to build a long-term relationship with a customer so that we both benefit from the relationship and are seen as business partners by each other. Our customers' trust and confidence, combined with safety, quality, timeliness, and demonstrating expertise, are the keys to success in relationship buying and selling. Both parties want to make money from the partnership and help and support customers who come back over and over again. I go out of my way to assist others so that we can all work together. This is no matter what. The first leadership training program I took helped me focus on what I like to do and what I'm good at in building relationships, which is communicate effectively with others, put yourself in their shoes, genuinely connect with people, and understand what people need to be successful, and then use that information to achieve victory. In this example, I'd like to think I'm a "chip off the old block."

As General Manager, I was in charge of the day-to-day business of a company branch as well as the branch's overall business strategy. I had to hire and schedule staff, keep track of cash flow, and set sales goals for the team. General managers help superintendents, project managers, estimators, project engineers, and support staff reach their goals and make sure that all teams within a group work well. A new general manager in a new market outside of the Carolinas, where Precision Walls is well-known, I found it challenging to run a new branch, but I was ready to take on the big job. Before I got there, the market and points of entry had already been found. I joined about one and a half years after the branch started out. As the team's new leader, the first thing I did was evaluate our group and look for possible customers. Introducing Precision Walls to potential customers and finding out what they want and what we can do for them. Then we need to know who our competitors are and how they are known in the market. Our services cost needs to find a good balance between being affordable for the target customer and being good for business. How do we want our clients to see us? All levels of target customers must be carefully thought about, such as influencers, decision makers, estimators, and project managers. And once all of this is in place, our branch model worked toward success and backed up what we have been selling. It all sounds so easy, but it is not.In the almost five years I worked at the Richmond branch, we had grown a lot. It took time and a lot of long hours to put everything together into a team: strategies, planning, operations, and hiring new employees. In order to get a foothold in the market, we had to overcome numerous obstacles and challenges. We made some great business friends and long-term business partners. I'm very proud of our team and everything they did, and I miss the team.

As an entry-level estimator, I was given a fantastic opportunity in 1994. I learned my trade and received training from some of the best in the business, for which I am grateful. Lotspeich's longstanding reputation, dating back to 1928, is unrivaled, and is regarded as one of the best specialty contractors in the country.
