I am currently a PhD student in the Biotechnology of Nutraceuticals and Bioactive Compunds (BIONUC) research group under the co direction or Dr. Felipe Lombo and Dr. Javier Fernández. I am applying systems biology technologies to develop health promoting functional foods to treat and prevent colorectal cancer and dyslipidemia. I also use synthetic biology to engineer streptomyces bacteria to produce compounds with potential as nutraceuticals.

I worked in the mass spectrometry platform of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub doing LC/MS based proteomics under Dr. Josh Elias at Stanford University. My main role was to collaborate with the Sunwoo lab (Stanford Otolaryngology) to analyze the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) associated immunopeptidome of head and neck tumors and patient-derived xenografts for the advancement of novel immunotherapies. I also worked on protocol optimization and scaling up our current sample preparation methods to high throughput speeds using Agilent’s AssayMap Bravo system. I also worked closely with other collaborators in a wide variety of proteomics projects. These included the Human tissue atlas with Steve Quakes group, infected cell atlas with Manu Leonetti’s group, autoimmune diseases with Joe DeRisi’s group, Ewing’s sarcoma MHC immunopeptidomics with Crystal Makell’s group, and serum proteomics with the Wyss-Corey group, among others.
