Patrick McConnell, a 7 year veteran of SemanticBits, is responsible for developing the overall technology vision for the company, driving cross-company development, and overseeing the quality of all software engineering work. Mr. McConnell has both a deep passion and a breadth of knowledge across a wide variety of business and technology areas, including precision medicine, genomics, cloud technology, and programming languages. He helps manage people as well as systems, develops processes as well as architecture, and helps grow the company as well as individuals.With over 15 years of experience in software development, system architecture, and project management, Mr. McConnell has been involved in health IT, clinical genomics, biospecimen tracking, and clinical informatics projects for a wide range of customers. These include a data warehouse solution for storing millions of biospecimens, a web-based systems for collecting and reporting on clinical activity, and a cloud-based architecture for precision medicine. His expertise spans the entire breadth of the project lifecycle, and he is equipped to lead small single-developer projects as well as large, multi-organizational programs.Prior to his work at SemanticBits, Mr. McConnell was a senior technical lead at the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. He led a team of engineers in implementing systems that supported translational medicine, proteomics, and gene annotation.Mr. McConnell holds a BA in Computer Science and BS in Neuroscience from Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
