Senior Statistician
CurrentClinical Research Design, IT and Statistical Support (CReDITSS) Unit within the Clinical Trials UnitCReDITSS is the design and statistical support component of the clinical trials unit at the John Hunter Hospital. CReDITSS was established to provide study design plus IT and statistical support to researchers within the Faculty of Health at the University of Newcastle as well as to other medical researchers within the Hunter Region. CReDITSS has 6 Statisticians (4 with PhD's and 2 with undergraduate statistics and currently doing BCA masters)My role is to: • Oversee the day to day management of CReDITSS• Provide advice to medical researchers on study design, statistical analysis and sample size calculations • Write statistical analysis plans (SAP) • Conduct statistical analysis • Write programs for data manipulation.• Prepare randomisation schedules for clinical trials• Write and assist in the preparation of study reports, papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and presentations • Supervise junior statisticians and post docs within CReDITSS• Supervise PhD students• Organise and assist in the conduct of statistical seminars for students and staff• Organise and run statistical workshops for students and staff• Provide assistance to staff submitting grant applications• Be a Chief Investigator on grant applications• Deliver the Data Management and Statistical Computing Course for the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia• Until recently I was a member of the Hunter New England Research Ethics Committee and Clinical trial subcommittee
