PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering:Specializing in Computational Biomechanics with an emphasis on the cardiovascular systemDeveloped an ultrasound-based computational modeling framework of cardiovascular biomechanics (both fluid mechanics and solid mechanics).Computational framework utilized to study blood flow (hemodynamics) using CFD and its relation to surgical outcomes and disease etiology of the vascular system. Applied framework to lower-extremity (i.e. legs) arterial bypass grafts and dialysis access sites (i.e. AV fistula).Utilized a commercial CFD solver (Ansys Fluent) and built a custom finite-element (FEA) structural dynamics solver (with C/C++). Performed fully coupled fluid-structure interactions (FSI) of blood flow and blood vessel dynamics. Investigated the influence of mechanical stress in the remodeling and failure of vascular revisions.Validated simulations with in vivo ultrasound blood flow measurements.
