Dr. McGahan is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder, and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder. Following his residency in San Francisco, he completed a shoulder fellowship in San Diego where he had the opportunity to train under the pioneers in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder. Dr. McGahan has expertise in advanced arthroscopic shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, and revision shoulder surgery. His joint replacement practice focuses on minimally invasive and robotic knee and shoulder replacement. His sports medicine practice focuses on rotator cuff surgery, labral repairs, ACL reconstruction (all graft options), and meniscus surgery. Dr. McGahan also has advance training in the treatment of traumatic injuries such as proximal humerus, clavicle, wrist, ankle, hand, and pediatric fractures.Dr. McGahan’s passion is taking care of his patients. His goal is to provide patient-centered care that allows each patient to return to the level of activity that he or she desires. He has extensive experience achieving these goals as he has worked as a team doctor for high school, college, and professional athletes including Sacred Heart Cathedral High School, University of San Francisco, San Diego State, San Francisco Giants AAA affiliate, and the San Diego Padres.
