McNulty maintained a close working relationship with the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and The United States Department of Justice District of Rhode Island. During his career McNulty also supervised several high profile cases pertaining to police and public corruption. McNulty also investigated several human trafficking investigations with successful results.

Provided personal security for the Attorney General. Assigned (three years full time) to the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
