National Airspace Operations Manager
• Assesses and evaluates local and nationwide trend data to develop solutions for sustaining the National Airspace, (NAS) or accomplishing NAS modernization. • Serves as the principal "official" technical operational expert for hardware and software issues on all equipment/systems, ensuring verification and certification of air traffic services within a large geographical area comprised of numerous air traffic facilities and provides a single point of contact (POC) for the Air Traffic Operations Manager in Charge• Maintains current certification authority as prescribed in FAA Order 3400.3. Maintains a current AOV credential with appropriate ratings, endorsements, and designations for duties in accordance with current Order 8000.90 prior to performing certification on certifiable systems/subsystems/equipment or services.• Acts as the single point of contact (POC) for emergency responders to the facility assigned in the event of fire, civil unrest, terrorist activities, and natural disaster or security issues. Works closely with law enforcement and local security personnel for overall facility security and other events. Properly responds to emergency response operation, heighten security levels and, disaster operations. Maintains a heighten state of NAS awareness for national security during VIP movement within assigned airspace. • Verifies Risk Management procedures are being utilized for all equipment and services within assigned airspace before scheduled equipment outages are approved in according with 6000.50. • Establishes priorities and exercises diligence to protect the NAS during release of systems for maintenance, inspections, installation projects, and modifications and assumes a leadership role in establishing and implementing appropriate risk assessment procedures. Utilizes risk management procedures in his/her work practices to ensure actions do not compromise the availability of services to the NAS.
National Airspace Area Specialist
Maintains current certification authority as prescribed in FAA Order 3400.3. Maintains a current AOV credential with appropriate ratings, endorsements, and designations for duties in accordance with current Order 8000.90 prior to performing certification on certifiable systems/subsystems/equipment or services. • Ensures NAS equipment/services, preventive maintenance and restoration/return to service are performed within established guidelines and existing regulations for assigned facility/equipment/service. • Assists the principal "official" technical operational expert for hardware and software issues on all equipment/systems, ensuring verification and certification of air traffic services within a large geographical area comprised of numerous air traffic facilities and provides a single point of contact (POC) for the Air Traffic Operations Manager in Charge. • Ensures that all records, reports, and documentation are completed correctly and in a timely manner for briefings and NAS services updates to stakeholders, and serves as the focal point for upward reporting for the geographical area of responsibility. Accurately logs all maintenance activities in accordance with Agency policy. • Ensures equipment/service certifications are completed within the prescribed time frame in accordance with FAA directives and organizational goals for assigned equipment/service prior to returning system to service to control air traffic. * Acts as the single point of contact (POC) for emergency responders to the facility assigned in the event of fire, civil unrest, terrorist activities, and natural disaster or security issues. Works closely with law enforcement and local security personnel for overall facility security and other events. Properly responds to emergency response operation, heighten security levels and, disaster operations. Electronic Technician, Radar, Data / Automation, Comm
Airway Transportation Systems Specialists (ATSS) perform in the capacity of highly specialized electronics technicians. The primary duties of an ATSS are linked to maintaining the safe and efficient operating capacity of the vast and complex network of electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system. ATSS personnel install, evaluate, maintain, modify and certify facilities, services and equipment that support the National Airspace System (NAS). They are also responsible for various auxiliary duties that contribute to providing reliable and safe FAA services to the flying public. This involves work with radar, communications, automation, and navigational aid equipment, as well as, various environmental support facilities and equipment. ATSS' will be required to possess knowledge in one or more specialties and perform some or all of the following duties:Radar: Airport Surveillance Radar, Air Route Surveillance Radar, Air Traffic Control Beacon Indicator, Airport Surface Detection Equipment and Terminal Doppler Weather Radar, Multilateration, IFFAutomation: Automated Radar Terminal System, Direct Access Radar Channel, En Route Automation Modernization, Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System, Oceanic Display and Planning System, operation and maintenance of industrial computer and associated LAN/WAN systems, and systems diagnostics.
