MARCH 2014OPENING OF THE MORELLI ART MUSEUM & DESIGN STUDIO IN AMSTERDAM, NEW YORKThe MORELLI ART MUSEUM & DESIGN STUDIO features two masterpieces of American public art that have been recognized as among the most culturally and historically significant works of fine art in the United States.The first work is the ten-foot, bronze, "Roots"-inspired, father-and-infant "BEHOLD" monument, "Dedicated to the Memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., For his Moral Courage and Nobility of Spirit." "Behold" overlooks the tomb of Dr. King at the KING NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE in Atlanta, Georgia. It was unveiled on January 11, 1990 by Mrs. Coretta Scott King and actor, John Amos, who played "Kunte Kinte" in "Roots"-- the inspiration for "Behold." "Behold" is seen, annually, by over 500,000 American and foreign visitors. A separate casting of the bronze "Behold" infant is in the permanent collection of the SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTIONS AMERICAN ART MUSEUM in Washington, D.C.The second major work is the "EAGLE ROCK SEPTEMBER 11TH MEMORIAL" in West Orange, New Jersey, overlooking the former site of the Twin Towers.Dedicated on October 20, 2002 the memorial includes eight bronze sculptures and a 160-ft granite "Wall of Remembrance" on which are etched the more than 2,900 names, ages, and hometowns, or foreign countries, of all who perished in the September 11th terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the four, airline flights.
