Mr. Naughton recently joined ECS Technologies as a Senior Principal Naval Architect. He is primarily involved with supporting NOAA's fleet of oceanographic ships, with a primary focus on the NOAA AGOR Variant vessels,

Mr. Naughton joined TCG-RSDD as a senior naval architect. He has been involved with supporting the design of a Large Unmanned Surface Vessel (LUSV) proposal, and work supporting upgrades to a NOAA research vessel.

Mr. Naughton has been involved in preliminary/contract level general arrangements development for a US Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) design proposal. He has also continued to support design efforts for Littoral Combat Ship and Frigate designs.

Mr. Naughton served as the Deputy Design Integration Manager for the government led design of the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) Air-Cushion Vehicle Program. Additional work performed while at CDIM-BLD includes work as a senior naval architect in support of a US Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) design proposal.

While with BMT-D&P, work included an assessment of passenger weight growth on U.S. Flag passenger vessels for the USCG’s Office of Design and Engineering Standards. Mr. Naughton was involved in preliminary design efforts for a Littoral Combat Ship design. Work performed included system integration, resistance and propulsion estimation, optimization, review of seakeeping and maneuvering analyses, design trade-offs, and providing naval architectural support to assist in developing a wide range of systems for the LCS including launch and recovery concepts for small craft and unmanned vehicle on the LCS.

Later, working on-site at NOAA’s Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, he was also involved in the review of the lead ship vessel configuration and analysis and design work to support proposed modifications to follow-on vessels to meet revised operational requirements. Mr. Naughton was also involved in several tasks involving naval auxiliaries, amphibious vessels and sealift ships.
