Additionally Mr. Naughton performed duties in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (NOAA-OMAO) in support of the multi-ship Fisheries Survey Vessel (FSV) acquisition program. Later, working on-site at NOAA’s Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, he was also involved in the review of the lead ship vessel configuration and analysis and design work to support proposed modifications to follow-on vessels to meet revised operational requirements. Mr. Naughton was also involved in several tasks involving naval auxiliaries, amphibious vessels and sealift ships. He performed structural analyses of hatch covers and deck structure for a Future Technology Variant (FTV) Sealift vessel, conducting shipchecks of several auxiliary vessels prior to conversion from Navy manning to MSC operational control, and supported the shipyard design effort for the U.S. Navy’s T-AKE auxiliary Dry Cargo vessel, including arrangements and stability analyses estimation of the impacts of ice-strengthening on the vessel’s weights and hull-structure, and analysis of design variants using the ASSET Ship Design Synthesis Program.
