Over 20 years ago, I experienced an “A-ha” moment working with an advisor on a very specific tactical aspect for a client. It became abundantly clear in our meeting that the family was looking for help with a multitude of challenges and no one was going to drive this conversation. It really hit me that this is what I wanted to do.In 1999 I set out to develop a values-based planning process to fully meet the needs of enterprising families and Blackwood Family Enterprise Service is the realization of my mission to help enterprising families achieve success across generations. Working together with families to identify the shared values that shape their vision, we then develop the strategies and tools to achieve family, ownership, and business goals. Blackwood's collaborative process brings together all stakeholders and delivers essential accountability that will mean the family reaches their desired future state. Today Blackwood is expanding nationally, and our new mission is to build a centre of excellence in the family enterprise advisory space for enterprising families and enterprise advisory professionals. Our new team has a wealth of lived experience and a deep passion for helping families find harmony as they work through the intricacies and challenges of their family enterprises. Our collaboration is going to enhance and inform the firm's work, elevate our practice, and allow us to better serve enterprising families.
