Joined the board of TMA very early in the life of the organisation (as TMEA} and was part of the growth. Was instrumental in creating governance changes at the beginning to better align the organisation to its opportunities. In the last few years have worked on board succession to ensure that the right skill mix was introduced and that the succession was staggered. TMA is an organisation with an up to US$ 500 million basket fund supported by FCDO, DANIDA USAID, EU, Netherlands, Canada and Sweden and several DFIs. It has implemented key interventions in the East African Community, IGAD, COMESA and SADC in accelerating trade, regional infrastructure support, policy improvements and private sector strengthening. My key interventions in the period:- co-led the transformation of TMEA governance from a donor led Project Implementation Committee (PIC) to an organisation with properly structured governance consisting of the “Shareholders” (the Donors), a Board and then the management.- was instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of TMEA through close consultation for the development of Strategy 1 and 2 of TMEA and also the current strategy- championed and supported the expansion of TMEA into the wider Eastern Africa and now Africa- had normal fiduciary oversight but with the additional challenge of meeting the diverse donors development aspirations and outcomesTMA is now a very respected and one fo kind aid-for-trade organisation with a unique delivery process. It has been very successful in the projects it is involved in on trade corridors in Eastern Africa.

Led the board and management to create a fund raising strategy that grew the donor funding from US$ 8 Million to US$ 40 million in 7 years.Recognising the volatility of donor funding for LVCT Health, worked with the board to create a subsidiary that will take the IP created by the institution and turn them into commercial opportunities which over time could fund the principal organisations. These is work in progress and I transition to lead the incubation and growth of this subsidiary - LVCT Holdings.
