Senior Web Developer
CurrentDevelop and manage any web presence Video Copilot has and manage the powerful Video Copilot servers.Video Copilot's web presence is pretty huge and we're fairly well known in the Movie Industry. Every few years we do a redesign of our site to keep it current with trending designs of the web. We're constantly adding new features and ways for our users and customers to use the site easier and more intuitively. The site consists of Video Tutorials which teach techniques in Adobe After Effects. Most content on the site has been converted from Flash to HTML5, such as these videos. I've also built a pretty awesome ecommerce system which we utilize to sell products for the visual effects industry. We offer plugins for AE, 3D Models, Stock FX and Footage. Once a customer places an order with us, an account is created for them giving them access to their downloadable products. They also get access to more features, invoice tracking and account management.I've also developed a pretty hefty backend to manage all of our customers and many aspects of the site such as comment moderation, tutorial management, newsletter handling, cache management and other specific things to our needs. We also have a forum and blog on the site. We use phpbb for the forum and Wordpress for our blog. I've customized many aspects of both of these systems and I'm pretty well versed in creating plugins for them and modifying/creating custom themes.Optimization is a huge factor for Video Copilot because we get an average of 100k pageviews a day and nearly 3 million a month. I've implemented many apache modules for rewriting, caching and compressing assets and pages on Video Copilot and have used Google's Pagespeed module for apache to optimize even further. One final note, I love Git and use it for versioning and to develop locally and remotely in specific branches and push updates to our production branch on our main server.
