In June, 2013, I was transferred to the Chicago Office of the SBA from our headquarters in Washington DC. At present, I am a Lender Relations Specialists handling all lenders in the northern half of Illinois. In this capacity I consult, advise, and train existing and/or prospective SBA participating lenders on all facets of the agency’s loan programs, and represent a primary point of contact with the banking community. Additional responsibilities include periodic counseling with prospective business owners interested in learning more about the role the SBA can play in facilitating the success of their business enterprise.

Promoted in April 2013 to this position, I review, assess and monitor the effectiveness of the guaranty purchase review process at the National Guaranty Purchase Center in Herndon, Virginia as its sole quality control representative. Included in this role is the review and assessment of every guaranty denial recommendation under the national 7A program, prior to final submission to SBA Headquarters. These responsibilities often entail detailed discussions and interaction with the participating lenders senior management to facilitate the most accurate and fairest determination for the guaranty purchase request. Position reports to SBA headquarters in Washington DC.

If your SBA loan goes bad, and you ask the SBA to honor its guaranty, it ends up in my office to approve, and I am one of a dozen specialists who review and assess your request. This job is an absolute blast, lots of hard work and sometimes very long hours, but what a great education. I have worked on the closing of numerous failed banks and am a Functional Manager in this capacity. Currently manage several relationships with assuming banks that have purchased a failed bank under a " loss share" arrangement. This position requires on going oversight of the compliance with the provisions of the Loss Share Agreement along with approval of the accuracy and appropriateness of insurance claims on charged off loans at the assuming bank. I routinely review and assess the loan workout strategies and activities of my assuming banks to evaluate their adequacy and the consistent application of regulatory requirements. I believe the best way I can describe my current responsibilities is as a Loan Review function for a dozen commercial loan portfolios with a heavy emphasis on assessing their handling of problem/special assets. In my former position at Illinois State Bank, I was the commercial real estate lender for all types of properties in the state. I was the conduit for all other non credit services the bank provided its customers.

I currently perform a solo acoustic act singing numerous songs from the late 60s and early 70s. If you have a radio, you will recognze most of them. I perform under the name Billy G. Always looking for gigs should you know of a venue thats books this type of act.
