Since 2005 collaborating with teachers, students, and community to improve my students performance. Used passion for reading and pedagogical knowledge to engage and teach students with Mild/Moderate learning disabilities. Concrete, physical assessment data displayed student improvement in reading/literacy skills. They have also demonstrated a love for subjects like science, technology, aviation, engineering, manufacturing and drama. The inquiry based, dual language International Baccalaureate program at Meyler St. Elementary facilitates asking meaningful questions, discovery and research and sharing information on how we will affect a change. It worked very well for students on the Autism Spectrum who might be challenged with respect to taking initiative. Currently, at Gardena Elementary the school starts the day with a positive affirmation and oath of what the students will do. I have only been there for eight months and further observation and investigation may be necessary to reveal programs geared toward furthering student success.
