Directed IT PMO for large and customer facing projects. Managed staff of 3 Project Managers and 2 Business Analysts with a Portfolio of over 75 projects and a budget of 10M. Portfolio management consisted of enterprise analysis of needs, sizing, scoring, and final senior management approval. Mentored staff on project management methodologies, problem resolution and communication strategies. Reported Portfolio health metrics on a monthly basis. The PMO successfully transitioned projects to production support or made insightful, data backed decisions to terminate non healthy or value adding projects.

Directed a staff of 10 BI professionals and 20 Records Management staff. Managed the enterprise business intelligence activities that supported operational data consumption and historical analysis for 2,000 employees. Successfully matured and reduced costs for BI activities that utilized an Oracle Data Warehouse, IBM Cognos, Informatica and Tableau. Championed self-service analytics through the deployment of data marts and Tableau for data discovery and visualizations. Records Management staff maintained regulatory compliance for retention of records across a broad spectrum of Utility information including Fossil and Nuclear generating plants, Transmission and Distribution infrastructure, HR and Financial records. RM staff also included a production print shop that mailed over 3.5M customer bills annually as well as other important customer correspondence. Custom print jobs were produced using 2 offset color presses as well as digital printers. The print shop consistently produced products at a lower cost with quicker turnaround time as compared to external services.From 2013 through March of 2014 was the lead IT manager on OPPD's entry into the Southwest Power Pool's Integrated Marketplace. This was an enterprise project that changed the way OPPD managed our generation. Instead of scheduling our own resource on an hourly basis, SPP now manages whose generators run (hourly in the Day Ahead Market and every 5 minutes in the Real Time Market). IT delivered automation to receive market signals on generation dispatching and notifying our Real Time desk accordingly. I directed the development of several Tableau visualizations and performance reports that allowed our Asset Optimizer to manage their bidding strategies and monitor market performance. This was a win-win for IT and our customers because they became self-sufficient and managing the plethora of 5 minute market data.

Managed a staff of 5 System Administrators and 3 Desktop Professionals that were responsible for supporting new projects as well as maintaining the health of operations. OPPD's data center consisted of 100's of Microsoft Windows Servers and over 2,000 desktops. Tools and Technologies implemented include Windows XP, 2003, 2008 R2, SMS/SCCM, SharePoint, Exchange, MS App-V, SolarWinds, and IBM Websphere. We successfully implemented VMWare ESX virtual technology and reduced our fleet of physical servers by over 75%. The Desktop Professionals were level 2 support for our Service Desk and successfully deployed 100's of clients using SMS/SCCM. We also managed a fleet of 300 mobile devices.

I started at OPPD as a Rate Planning engineer utilizing SAS to perform Cost of Service studies and do Rate designs that met Senior Management and Board of Director revenue targets under the constraints of no customer would receive more than a maximum increase. Implemented a linear algebra model to solve for simultaneous equations. Developer: Supported Nuclear operations by upgrading a radiation dose monitoring system (EAGLE) developed in C on OS/2 to meet new NRC guidelines. Managed a team of Oracle Forms/Reports developers that implemented systems to support Energy Marketing, Transmission & Distribution, and other operating areas. Over 10 systems were implemented using a combination of Oracle Designer, Forms, Reports, SQL, PL/SQL, and server side scripting using bourne, sed, awk, grep, etc.DBA: Managed the IT portion of the implementation of a new client server Customer Information billing system. This was a migration from an IBM MVS mainframe to an HP Unix server and windows XP thick client. I managed all technical OPPD staff in conjunction with a vendor staff who managed the entire project. Data conversion as a big task and accomplished with a team of business analysts and developers utilizing Oracle's sql client into an Oracle database. 100's of reports were written utilizing IBM cognos. Change management as well as process improvements were implemented successfully. The call center experienced no downtime and bill processing transitioned successfully without any late bills.Systems Administrator: Responsible for project and operational support of 100’s of applications and servers. Upgraded SMS and Exchange. Supported implementation of a new Oracle Outage Management System. This was the first implementation of an Oracle db on a Microsoft Cluster at OPPD. Supported implementation of a new Mobile Fleet management system – Mobility. This involved retrofitting our fleet with in-vehicle docking stations and wireless communications technology.
