Owner and Operator of Purdy Machine and Manufacturing, LLC fulfilling the roles of manager, machinist, and engineer.

I am responsible for full implementation of new product processes from concept to final process paperwork. Individual tasks include gauge, tool, and process design and development, as well as coordination with suppliers of machines and tooling, operations management, and internal and external labor suppliers. I am similarly responsible for updates, retrofits, and corrective actions for existing production methods. As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer I also advise, guide, and work closely with my manufacturing, operations management, program management, and product design teammates to facilitate safe and cost effective manufacturing solutions for a wide variety of business challenges including plant layout, process flow, and quoting.

My position is specific to improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) by means of supporting process and tooling development and implementation on the facility's four largest bolt makers and progressive headers. Day to day tasks primarily include designing, making, and modifying cold forming tooling and equipment, process improvement and documentation, and occasionally setting up and running headers and bolt makers. Skills that are most relevant to this position include working in teams involving tool and die makers, operators, engineers, and management, Autodesk Inventor 2017 including Nastran in-CAD, operating lathes, manual mills, and 2-axis CNC conversational mills, and operating cold forming equipment.

The facilitation of education based team building and leadership activities and experiences with groups from 5 to over 100 participants. Facilitation includes verbal and written communication with clients regarding their experience, designing customized course plans for group experiences (ranging from 2 to 4 hours) based on client goals, and leading clients to become more cohesive and successful teams and team members. Facilitators also manage group projects with coworkers including scheduling, leading and attending meetings, and reporting project progress, updates, and goals. Facilitators are regularly trained in experiential leadership learning skills and team building facilitation techniques.

Engine Dynamics and Loads Department: worked with LS-DYNA, LS-PrePost, and Python programming for program control and model optimization. Studied practical applications of design of experiments, specifically Latin Squares/ Hypercubes and Central Composite Design.

Worked on scrap reduction project in a large manufacturing facility with partial responsibilities as a process engineer. Spent over 200 hours working with Autodesk Inventor 2013, including part design as well as reading and drafting technical drawings.
