I fell in love with construction as an adolescent playing with Lincoln Logs or Legos. Construction requires you to consider, plan, and adjust on the fly to changing conditions. At Patriot Contracting we work with owners, architects, and other stakeholders to review the requirements, and if necessary revise the plan. Then, as the work is in progress, we must be attentive to potential or actual changes. This allows us to maintain safety while meeting schedule and budget targets. I got my start in construction as a laborer while working my way through college. While majoring in Construction Management, I enjoyed participating in estimating competitions with other schools. To this day I still enjoy estimating. Out of college I started as an assistant site superintendent under a very competent and demanding superintendent. After moving up to superintendent I spent some time in the field before moving to the office as an estimator and chief estimator. When an opportunity arose I formed Patriot Contracting. That was 20 + years ago. Since then we have nimbly met the challenges of the Great Recession, Covid, supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, inflation, etc. We have completed over 600 projects varying from school buildings, police stations, beauty salons, health offices, and fast food facilities. Among our customers are: Loudoun County Virginia, Amazing Lash, Sherwin Williams, UPS stores and many major developers in the DMV.We have also worked on government projects as a subcontractor to build entrances at military bases, car washes, and even SCIFs. We are very proud that most of our business is from returning clients. Only now, as we seek to diversify by expanding into government contracting, do we find that we have to market ourselves.
