StanCorp owns businesses in insurance, real estate, pensions, and investments. My role is to support financial planning and strategy, primarily by compiling and interpreting our actual and planned financial experience throughout the year. I have exposure to insurance-oriented M&A deals and activity through the lens of FP&A, and overlap with corporate strategy through business partnering. Much of my focus in 2022 and 2023 has centered on OpEx, measuring and communicating the firm's exposure to key financial sensitivities (e.g, inflation, benefit ratios, interest rates, etc), communicating our swaps portfolio strategy and its implications, presenting risk-based capital, conducting corporate planning through business partnering, and income statement allocations between corporate services and our lines of business. I assist in providing clarity on the firm's overall financial performance for our shareholders, the board of directors, and executive management committee.

Hedge funds, IDFs, and PPLI products for the ultrahigh net worth community.

I began in the bank's internal ETF operations team (~$500B) and later transitioned to treasury services for private equity funds, hedge funds, and REITs.

I helped a mathematician and sociologist to produce models representing how much wealth would flow into charity, based on macroeconomic and demographic data. I also prepared talking points for public appearances, edited manuscripts, and maintained databases.

I measured the cognitive behaviors of people responding to virtual environments.

Promoted to behavior psychology research managerThis research group designed cafeteria environments for K-12 students. These environments included audio and visual stimuli such as chef's reading from scripts as students moved through a lunch line and posters with specific statements and representations. Our goal was to change their behaviors around food. We measured the efficacy of our environmental changes by measuring the weight of food items remaining at the end of the lunch period.

In order to assess the changes following the Arab Spring Revolution, I analyzed and codified trends in the items included and excluded in other global constitutions, if the country had experienced a revolution since 1970. By doing so, I assisted a law school professor in arguing for which elements should be characteristic of constitutions arising in the aftermath of the Arab Spring.
