Higher education administrative professional with over eight years of experience in student and academic affairs, including in leadership and managerial roles, at a top-tier research university.I started at UC San Diego knowing that my core values aligned with the mission and vision not only with this institution specifically, but also with the concept of a public university and the associated service to the community. I value service towards a dynamic, inclusive, and diverse culture that supports the pursuit of knowledge for the betterment of society. I am passionate about ethics and sustainability, and at no point in my career in higher education have I felt like I have ever had to compromise my sense of integrity. As I have progressed throughout my career I have become a subject matter expert across a spectrum of components of higher education administration, including academic advising/student counseling, curriculum development and assessment, student financial support and employment, academic personnel, and contracts and grants administration. My area of expertise is in student and academic affairs administration, and I have extensive experience in the administration of undergraduate and graduate programs. I have been in a managerial role for over six years, and one of the most consistently rewarding aspects of my career is the ability to help others with their professional development and personal growth. I take being a leader very seriously, and I have participated in various workshops, courses, and conferences, in an effort to enhance my leadership skill set. Being a leader transcends management, and I endeavor to effect change by influencing others rather than dictating from top-down how change will be implemented. An engaged, energized, and impassioned team of professionals is key to any organization's success, and one of my primary goals is to create a culture of engagement and trust to engender a sense of shared enthusiasm for the organization's goals and values.
