Cosmos is a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, with a presence in 9 Sub-Saharan Africa countries. My role is to provide strong finance leadership to the business and support the continued growth and strategy, with key accountabilities on Budgeting & Forecasting, Financial reporting, Accounting, Treasury, Taxation and statutory compliance, Internal Controls and processes etc.A team of 14, with three Direct Reports:- Finance Controller- Financial Accounting Manager- Treasury, Tax and Investments Manager

Overseeing the Finance function in Eastern Africa. Director for the Kenya legal entity.KPIs on Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Reporting, Controlling, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, and Internal Control & Processes.Key accountability1. Financial Planning and Analysis.Consolidation, analysis and reporting on financial performance of the company. Lead the financial planning, forecasts, and analysis in line with group plan.2. Business Partnering.Objectively advise/challenge operational management for improvements. Present and defend the company strategy and long-range plans to the group for validations and approvals.3. Group Accounting.Preparation of monthly dashboards to the country council and the Group leadership teams. Ensure that financial reports and consolidations is in compliance with the law, IFRS and US GAAPs. 4. Administration.Stakeholders management; Board topics, Secretarial, legal, staff medical and pensions schemes. 5. Internal Control & Businesses ProcessesEstablishment and maintenance of a reliable control environment adequately supporting the operations (all businesses and activities), in line with the group framework. 6. Resource allocations.Ensure the company can meet its financial commitments and manage cashflow in the most efficient way. Negotiate better terms with the banks, vendors etc. 7. Taxation and statutory compliance.Ensure compliance with Tax regulations, overseeing all the tax audits, management of the transfer pricing topics with group tax teams. Management of the external audit.8. Leadership and team development.Define KPIs for team and guide them in defining Individual Development Goals (IDP). Active participant in the Country council for EAH, as well as in the Africa Finance committee, shaping the strategic direction of the business. 9. Offer financial support on Internal projects; including but not limited to Mergers and acquisitions, new product launches, new partnerships etc.

1. Manage control over fixed assets, capital expenditures and depreciation expense. Support all affiliate projects from Financial perspective2. Provide an accurate & timely picture of the financial situation compared to the objective for the current and future periods.3. A business partner able to advise/challenge operational management (or stakeholder)4. Build and update entity’s forecasts (Budget, Trends, Long Range Plan) related to KPI’s of the activity, ensuring accountability for the data quality and compliance with group policies5. Report, Analyze and explain variances versus target6. Ensure that tasks related to the closing are done in time and in line with group policies7. Assess risk and opportunities, support management to take corrective actions, and make proactive recommendations on business improvement.8. Perform financial and business analyses either on project or operational/strategic matters (including new opportunities, alliances and partnerships)9. Make sure corporate finance procedures are implemented and respected (AED, contracts, SOPs,…)10. Build business plans and define ways to identify gaps, opportunities.11. Anticipate and identify, when necessary management reserves and contingency plans to anticipate significant changes in the business environment

1. Pricing - Accountable for the execution of pricing activities to maximize business revenues, applying different price analysis techniques and consistently monitoring cost of product, selling price, volume and product margin relationship looking at the current supply position and competitor activity.2. Business planning - Collect and collate data requisite for the budgeting process (Long term plan,Pre-budget and budget). Benchmark profitability, opex and capex performance against plan.3. Reporting - Prepare comprehensive reports and trend analysis on Commercial unit’s performance to assist the business unit leadership in decision making. Ensuring all Commercial internal reports reconcile with the Gross margin report namely Price check and the market share report. Provide comments on performance variance with budget, prior month and same month previous year.4. Market Intelligence - Monitor competitive activity in the industry and understand implication on the business. Critically analyze market data to identify areas of opportunity and threats.5. Sales Forecasts - The Commercial point of contact with Planning and Supplies department. Lead the commercial team's Sales forecast meeting, fortnightly.6. Controlling - Work closely with Financial Reporting & controlling team to ensure smooth roll out of any New reporting tools, Profitability templates, new tools in SAP etc..7. Tender support - provide the necessary econometrics for prospects evaluation and offer Tender support to commercial teams for the Company to retain market leader position.

- Perform financial modelling, reporting, and analysis, including annual business plan, monthly reporting, and scenario simulations.- Exercise knowledge of overall business strategy and operations, including business processes, cost components, and drivers of these measures.- Manage company investment budgets, including approval, execution, forecasting. This includes depreciation of assets forecasting and management.-Provide important business information and support various special projects as directed by management.- Prepare monthly management reports, provide comparison, and advise on the format for Quarterly and Yearly consolidation,- To be involved and provide the necessary information required in the Statutory Audit of the company.

• Credit Risk Management – Business risk reviews for existing and potential customers.• Credit Risk analysis, evaluation, and monitoring of business risks indicators.• Prompt Debt Recovery – Monthly collection of at least KES 140M. • Credit risk review Meetings – Attend all Credit Control review meetings to update management (Managing Director – chairman, CFO, and Commercial Director) on the accounts status.• Initiate and advise on litigation – Availing relevant documents to the Legal department when necessary in the recovery process.• Participate in major department projects and take an active role in cross-functional teams to assist in driving quality improvements, processes, and initiatives that reduce business risks. • Preparing Relevant reports for monitoring key credit control areas.

Debtors’ aged analysis.Daily follow-up and monthly reconciliation of about 1,000 customer accounts.Frequent analysis and updating of prices into the SAP system.Creation and updating of customer accounts, master data, payment terms, credit limits, risk categories, transport rates e.t.c.
