My name is Patrick Roe, and this is my eleventh year teaching fourth grade in the West Lafayette Community Schools and my fourteenth year of teaching overall. I love teaching in Indiana, and I greatly enjoy working with the students, staff, and families that make this area an outstanding place to learn and raise a family. It is an honor to be able to teach young minds! West Lafayette has been my home for 36 years. I graduated from Lafayette Central Catholic in 2004 and earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2008 from Purdue University. In 2015 I earned my master’s degree in Special Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. At previous schools I have taught fifth grade, sixth grade, and been an elementary school librarian. In addition to teaching, I also tutor many students in a variety of subjects, including math, writing, science, social studies, English to non-native speakers, and ILEARN remediation. I have also taught the GERI summer camp and Super Saturday at Purdue University. My goal as a teacher is to instill in every child a love of learning and discovery, as well as to provide a smooth transition into the upper elementary grades. I truly believe that the most successful teachers develop their students into life-long learners, so that a person’s education and academic exploration never comes to an end. The day-to-day procedures in my classroom allow a structured and organized environment, with clear and concise student expectations.
