Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Automated Solutions And Tooling & Programming
Current• Direct a small group of specialized Engineers challenged with the development of automated solutions, tooling design, and programming for all CNC lathes in the Tubular Products division. • Champion efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.• Directed the successful implementation of robotic Automated Gaging Units (AGUs) on a high volume pipe threading line; passed R&R studies and provided gaging for 100% of all elements, resulting in zero customer claims.• Developed specification and performed prototype and final testing of an Internal Gaging Unit (IGU) used to measure couplings; the first of its kind to pass strict gage R&R requirements while achieving required productivity cycle time.• Built and tested a coupling deburr unit (CDU) that cut labor required operate a high volume cell from three down to two people per shift; successful implementation led to the purchase of two additional units.• Purchased CNC tool presetters, for use across three different facilities, which measured lathes tool geometry, while populating tool life on a RFID tag; RFID tag data was transferred to the lathe control, allowing tools to automatically be changed post-expiration of tool life.• Launched a 3-tooth internal threading chaser process that provided a 28% increase in coupling productivity.
