Patrick Salazar is a seasoned developer of human and institutional resources and capacity. His executive recruiting consulting has placed highly talented experts in crucial nonprofit leadership roles is affirmed by the dozens of high level placements at thriving organizations since 2015. Salazar has more than 35 years in senior nonprofit management with specialization in organization development and strategic growth, including board leadership, fundraising, program development, evaluation, and communications. In 2017 Salazar founded Latinos LEAD (Latinos for Leadership Excellence And Diversity) to address the lack of Latinos serving on nonprofit boards. He previously consulted the national executive search firm m/Oppenheim Associates, and was instrumental in the placement of the CEO at Heal the Bay (Santa Monica) and at the Discovery Childrens Museum (Las Vegas). Throughout his career, Salazar has held senior staff and consulting roles with a wide range of Latino-serving institutions and higher education clients including the National Association of Latino Arts & Culture, National Hispana Leadership Institute, UnidosUS (National Council of La Raza), Latino USA, Harry Truman Scholarship Foundation, Antioch University, University of Utah, Pierce College, the Latino Donor Collaborative, among others. Salazar served honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CV-43), and was decorated for service during the Iranian Hostage Crisis and Operation Eagle Claw, the hostage rescue attempt. Following his naval service, he earned a BA in Business (Marketing) at the University of Utah, and an MBA at the University of Texas at Austin. Salazar funded his entire higher education with the GI Bill and scholarships, including the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the University of Utah's Chicano Scholarship Fund, and the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Salazar co-founded the Utah Coalition of La Raza, was Chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Hispanic Caucus, board chair of the Chicano Scholarship Fund (Univ. of Utah), and served on the board of East LA Classic Theatre.
