About Patrick Samborsky
I started my career at Aon Hewitt in 2009 on a recently formed team tasked with taking all of the pension plan data from nine legacy systems and transferring it to one in-house administration system. At first, this involved learning the specifications of all ten systems and how minimize disruptions by executing quick, seamless conversions. This grew into being responsible for all data both entering into and residing in the system. I learned to prioritize tasks while balancing the competing demands of multiple teams. Further evolution, included verifying the plausibility of the data and training new colleagues in India. In 2015, I wanted to pivot and find a role outside of my hometown. I landed in Iowa and started working at Global Atlantic in Life Valuation. The team is responsible for financial reporting in statutory, GAAP, and tax. I started at the bottom producing data analysis for others and I made my way to where, in 2024, I led the team. Since 2020, I have tried to expand and give back to my profession and to others. Through employee engagement activities, tutoring students in math, and volunteering with the Society of Actuaries, I have learned how to give back to others while enriching my own life.
