• Primarily responsible for managing and implementing customer’s laboratory automation projects and providing them with cost effective and time efficient custom solutions• Program laboratory automation equipment for customers in the Midwest sales region • Responsible for understanding and then translating bench-top laboratory protocols to custom automation solutions on Hamilton’s Nimbus, Star, and Vantage instruments• Validate automation assays for customers in the following scientific disciplines: o Biological sample storage and tracking o Next-Generation Sequencing library prep workflows for RNA and DNA o Molecular biology extraction and analysis o Analytical chemistry sample preparation o Cell and Microbial culture preparation and testing o Protein Expression and Immunoassays• Integrate third party devices into automation solutions including labware handling robotic channels and arms, thermocylcers, plate washers and readers, positive pressure manifolds, barcode scanners, centrifuges, and Thermo Kingfishers • Work closely with customers in research, academia, production and clinical environments to gather requirements, then set reasonable goals and expectations for their projects• Coordinate with the sales and marketing teams to provide customer information and leads, market trend data, and customer satisfaction reports• Manage and support the existing customer base by troubleshooting automation issues as they arise and provide detailed user trainings• Currently operate as the NGS lead applications specialist for the Midwest responsible for automating and validating the liquid handling of new NGS kits for customers

• Designed and executed project plans for the technology scale up of syngas and sugar fermentations from 2-liter reactors to production scale• Performed routine sampling, setup and maintenance of bioreactors using custom configurations and Sartorius bioprocess controls• Maintained a liquid nitrogen cryopreservation inventory for thousands of microbial cultures, including research and production cell lines • Developed and implemented certification protocols and documentation for microbial cell culture production lots to ensuring the stock was pure and genetically stable• Coordinated the supply and distributions contracts with offsite consumable vendors and cryopreservation storage facilities• Created and implemented protocols to identify common contaminant organisms in the lab • Designed RT-qPCR assays to track gene expressions over the course of fermentation runs• Consolidated research projects and experiments into reports and invention disclosures used to improve the company’s intellectual property portfolio• Authored and review standard operating procedures for common laboratory tasks in the anaerobic microbiology laboratory• Trained fellow and incoming scientists, engineers and technicians in anaerobic microbiology protocols, media preparation, and aseptic technique
