Serve as a Compliance Officer with managerial responsibilities and oversight over the enterprise Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Military Lending Act (MLA) programs. Develop, implement and monitor risk-based compliance programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory SCRA/MLA requirements. Provide compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk to identify and mitigate regulatory risk in all business activities. The Office of Global Ethics and Integrity (GEI) provides centralized oversight of ethics and works to foster Wells Fargo's culture of ethics and integrity throughout the company. GEI is responsible for policies related to ethics, business conduct, and conflicts of interest matters, and identifying, monitoring, and mitigating conduct-related risk. GEI sets ethical standards for Wells Fargo and provides team members with educational resources to help them make ethical business decisions. Served as an Oversight Consultant on GEI’s Compliance Risk Management Team, responsible to ensure compliance with Wells Fargo’s Code of Ethics and all supporting policies related to ethics, business conduct, and conflicts of interest, as well as to partner with the GEI leadership team in deployment of the GEI Risk Management Framework. Oversaw and assess adherence to assigned laws, rules, regulations, and regulatory guidance including, but not limited to, developing, revising, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance across the company, appropriate reporting, proper escalation, and resolution of identified issues. Conducted oversight for high risk, complex regulatory and internal policy requirements, provide subject matter expertise to businesses and support partners, and provide regulatory compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects as appropriate. Also responsible for assessing GEI programs by completing quarterly program evaluations to assess the effectiveness of the GEI Risk Management Framework. Partnered closely with lines of business and compliance partners in diverse geographic locations to ensure compliance with Wells Fargo’s Code of Ethics and all supporting policies related to ethics, business conduct, and conflicts of interest, including coordination and partnership both domestic and non-US (EMEA, APAC and Canadian-LatAm) risk leaders.

Served as ethics and federal employment/labor law counselor for an Army Service Component Command. Advised on Army regulatory compliance matters. Conducted legal reviews of Army policies and regulations, as well as responses to congressional inquiries, Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act requests.

Maintained overall responsibility for Fort Jackson’s criminal law program, including charging decisions, case strategy, case management, and case preparation. Supervised, mentored and trained three attorneys and fifteen paralegals. Developed and executed training for over 50,000 soldiers on a variety of legal subjects. Served as the criminal law subject matter expert for the entire Fort Jackson community. Provided legal advice to more than 50 of Fort Jackson’s senior leaders and commanders.

Represented twenty-eight clients at trial on a variety of serious criminal charges. Advocated for an additional eleven clients at administrative separation proceedings. Provided legal advice to an additional 300 clients on a variety of criminal issues.

Investigated, adjudicated and resolved administrative claims filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act. Represented the Army at multiple depositions. Researched, investigated and recommended denial of a $50,000 personal injury claim. Prepared litigation reports for Assistant United States Attorneys and assisted with trial preparation.

Prosecuted three contested criminal trials. Represented the government before twelve administrative separation proceedings. Served as chief legal advisor to twenty-five commanders on military justice matters and regulatory interpretations. Trained thousands of deploying soldiers in the Law of War and Rules of Engagement.

Managed all aspects of the Fort Eustis Legal Assistance Office servicing a community of more than fifty-five thousand people. Provided legal advice and representation to more than seven hundred clients on a variety of issues, including consumer law, estate planning, contract law, and family law. Supervised, mentored and trained one attorney one paralegal, and two interns.
