The governance of local school boards by democratically-elected individuals remains at the heart of two vital United States structures: the public education system and democracy itself. Subject to some exceptions, a school board has all powers granted by the Illinois School Code, along with those that are necessary for the maintenance and development of the schools that the board controls. School board members sit in trust for their local communities. Every two years, board members are elected by voters to serve two- to four-year terms on local school boards.

The Illinois Department of Corrections is the department of the Illinois state government that operates the adult state prison system securing nearly 40,000 offenders at over 40 facilities, and operates with expenditures totaling over $1.5 billion. The responsibility of the liaison is working with the Illinois General Assembly, in coordination with the Office of the Governor, to ensure the proper functioning of the department in regards to legislative matters. Additionally, the liaison works with individual legislators on constituent issues and working to develop legislation that is beneficial to the Department of the Corrections and the State of Illinois as a whole. In recent years, the department has prioritized criminal justice reform and reducing the prison population throughout the state. The motto for the Illinois Department of Corrections is "Serving Justice, Serving Illinois".

As campaign manager for State Representative Avery Bourne (IL-95th) I oversaw the day-to-day operations of the campaign. With our focus on grassroots campaigning, social media, and hosting small but numerous events throughout the district, Representative Bourne's landslide victory in November was not a surprise to anyone.

As campaign coordinator I was responsible for part of the campaign effort for the ILGOP and Governor Bruce Rauner in the Springfield, IL area. I oversaw a staff of 8-10 interns and volunteers to do neighborhood canvassing and collect petition signatures as part of the candidate eligibility requirements from the Illinois State Board of Elections. In this position I consistently exceeded the goals placed upon me.

As Representative Wojcicki Jimenez's legislative assistant, I took on a wide range of responsibilities. Not only was I the face of the office, answering the phone, scheduling events, and greeting visitors, but I also advised on policy issues and carried out different fiscal functions. Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez had the pleasure of serving the area around the Illinois State Capitol of Springfield, thus her district office and Capitol office were one office. As a result, I had the amazing experience of working with both policy and constituent issues from the district simultaneously first hand.
