🎶 A Musical America Top 30 Professional of 2023, Patrick Slevin is executive director of Austin Soundwaves, a nonprofit organization with a mission to make learning music accessible and equitable. Patrick has led Austin Soundwaves from startup to sustainability over 13 years and today oversees a diverse team of 25, growing budget of $1,000,000 and portfolio of programs for youth, adults, schools, and nonprofits. 📈 Patrick builds authentic long-term relationships with students, partners, and clients and has raised individual gifts and grants up to $1.2 million and developed multiple earned revenue programs with year-over-year growth. Patrick has built effective development, marketing, and program departments from the ground up and initiated an innovative Results Only Work Environment to attract and retain top talent. 💭 Patrick has served on boards for El Sistema USA and KMFA Classical 89.5 and was a clinical faculty member at the University of Texas College of Fine Arts. He has presented on topics such as program design, entrepreneurship, and mission-centered careers at George Mason University, Sewanee Music Festival, and the University of Texas, and has trained 500+ teachers and facilitators nationally to use creative teaching strategies across the curriculum through MINDPOP and Austin’s Creative Learning Initiative. 🤔🥁 As a percussionist, he has performed with orchestras, jazz ensembles, and rock bands across the United States and was a member of Gentlemen of NUCO, a multi-genre chamber music ensemble featured on Season 5 of America’s Got Talent. Patrick received degrees in music performance and urban studies from Northwestern University and completed the Sistema Fellows Program at the New England Conservatory. 🎓
