President, Biologist
CurrentPatrick Stewart, M.Sc. is a senior aquatic biologist, oceanographer and consultant in marine and freshwater biology & environmental science. In over 35 years he has contributed environmental input and insight to some of the major marine industrial developments in Eastern Canada, including some of the principal offshore hydrocarbon developments including Hibernia and the Sable Offshore Energy Project, as well as tidal power development in the Bay of Fundy. He has also carried out scientific studies on impacts of industrial development on marine benthic environments including Sydney, Saint John and Halifax Harbours. Of particular relevance to this project, he has coordinated major projects involving of marine environmental databases—including GIS-applications—in particular playing a lead role in developing databases of marine benthic biomass and fish eggs and larvae for Fisheries and Oceans Canada and ESRF; and creating a GIS/Database environmental assessment tool for identifying environmental constraints on acoustics research cruises carried out by Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC). Mr. Stewart has extensive knowledge of Bay of Fundy marine ecosystems and environmental constraints on developing tidal energy, and the environment of the Inner Bay of Fundy through conducting baseline studies of seabirds and marine mammals, benthic communities, and physical oceanography. Mr. Stewart’s broad knowledge, and ability to work on teams focusing on projects of a multidisciplinary nature, are key assets.
