Delegating of tasks to be completed, safety briefings as scheduled, assembling of all equipment and testing thereof prior to use. Setting and operating of various CNC milling machines, grinding of coated sleeves and shafts. Quality control and complete running of stores. Assisting and coaching employees with regards to performance, compliance & safety. Handling all break downs with internal and external communication as to customers’ requirements and specifications. 2IC to owner of business.

Repairer of all broken presses, building up of stock for all presses, assisting on breakdowns, grinding and building jigs and tools for presses, stocktaking, allocating tasks to fitters, overall ordering of material for plant. Responsible for all safety aspects within plant.

Checking off sections, maintaining all equipment in plant, assisting on shuts in plant and shift work.

Fitter for a year and allocated in various sections on PM6 and alkaline plant. Became charge hand thereafter and had to ensure maintenance was done on all equipment in sections by fitters. Assisted on shuts in other plants and received requests from foreman and ensured that it had been completed. Covered for foreman and planner whilst they were on leave. Did shifts work and call outs on breakdowns when required after hours.

Ran workshop and made up / completed all parts for clip guns for fencing company. Ensured employees completed their duties and got all material ready for shifts on CNC machines.

Assisted in toolroom, UMT Workshop CNC shop, Compressor shop and drawing office. Learned most things about the trade and attended college during my apprenticeship. Qualified in 1995.

Loading Steel, Sandblasting and Brightbar drawing thereof. Assisting on repairs of machines and stock taking.
