Additional responsibility to review and validate all waste characterization data submitted to EWMSD for disposal. Perform characterization and QA of low-level radiological and mixed wastes using the Canberra Inspector 2000 In-Situ System (ISOCS).Responsible for supervising RADCON Division Facility Support RCT’s engaged in the environmental, safety and health functions for the Energy, Environment and National Security Directorate. Assist in developing and conducting basic ES&H training for the Technical Staff and performing annual appraisal reviews of employee performance. Specific duties performed for the EENS Directorate included: ALARA Coordinator for the Directorate, Radioactive Sealed Source Custodian for the Directorate and Point of Contact for Foreign Travel to Radiological Facilities for Non-proliferation and National Security Activities. Additional responsibilities include: participation as Field Team Captain for the North Eastern Radiological Assistance Program (RAP), attending annual drills, responding to actual radiological assistance calls and participation in the BNL First Responder Program as a First Response Supervisor and responding to all laboratory level emergencies.

Responsibilities included work on asbestos abatement projects involving air monitoring and enforcement of DEP and NYS Code Rule 56 Regulations. Also, provided assistance on building surveys and bulk asbestos sampling. Lab work included prep and analysis of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) bulk/air samples and Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) air samples. Majority of work performed for Con Edison, NYNEX and LILCO.
