Tax Duties: prepare, review, research, audits, planning, modeling, SOX compliance, fixed asset management, process improvement • I coordinated and prepared state tax apportionment for several tax filing groups, including multi-tier, multi state organizations. • I managed and ensured the accuracy of tax depreciation schedules including acquisitions, dispositions, like-kind exchanges, and section 754 calculations. • I performed timely quarterly and annual REIT SOX compliance including tax provisions, prohibited transactions, FIN 48, and other periodic tax obligations to create a trail for third party auditors to accurately prepare and audit financial statements. • I collaborated with the tax team to provide direct guidance to The Board of Directors to enable them to manage the company’s quarterly dividend policy. • I communicated with other departments, under a heavy deadline, to gather, analyze, summarize and report to the responsible financial parties, the information necessary to disclose the annual Form 1099-DIV dividend allocations to the company shareholders. • I provided important support and advice to other departments on maintaining a proper and accurate legal entity list. • I guided the accurate migration and transition of tax depreciation data from one operating system to another, including data confirmation, testing and proper function of the new system. • I Oversaw and systemized the inter-company note interest and overhead calculation, procedure and documentation between the parent and subsidiary companies. • I Directed and assisted other departments in creating financial statements in the operating system for our Taxable REIT Subsidiary (TRS). These financial statements ensured the integrity and accuracy of information to timely file tax returns. • I possess substantial proficiency and competency in managing and calculating the tax and financial statement effects of asset acquisitions, dispositions and spin-offs.
