As the assistant mill controller I was responsible for the management of the day-to-day accounting functions. The cost accounting manager and the general accounting manager were my direct reports. In addition, two analysts and three clerical specialists report through them. My group is responsible for general accounting, cost accounting, raw material accounting, payroll, and invoicing. I oversaw the monthly close process, the weekly mill forecast, and the monthly reporting. I also reviewed all the purchase requisitions for accuracy.

While my title is Cost Accountant I am responsible for all the accounting functions for the Bauxite plant: - I complete the monthly reports and provide variance to budget explanations to management. - I review all Capital Appropriation Requests for the plant and I am the first approver on all projects. - I produce monthly spending variance analyses to discuss with the plant manager and area managers. I assign follow-ups and action items as needed. - I coordinate all internal, external, and governmental audits. - I coordinate and supervise the annual storeroom physical inventory of $3.0MM in spare parts. - I complete monthly recons of the balance sheet accounts for Bauxite and I complete a monthly review of the account recons for the Fairmount, Marblehead, and Kennesaw facilities to ensure accuracy and adequate backup. - I prepare and post monthly journal entries for Bauxite. I also review the journal entries for the Fairmount, Marblehead, and Kennesaw facilities. -I track and update the Productivity Initiatives for efficiency increases and spending reductions each month and provide the financial impact to the site. I host a monthly meeting to discuss the previous month's results, the forecast for the remainder of the year, and I lead the discussion regarding additions to the existing initiatives. - I participate in the Bi-Weekly Controller's Call hosted by the Global Controller with the other plant controllers. - I serve as a member of the Bauxite Leadership Team. The responsibility of the Leadership Team is to review and discuss issues that have the potential to impact the entire plant and make recommendations to the plant manager.

• Maintained the integrity of the mill balance sheet with assets over $300MM for this location. Participated in quarterly balance sheet reviews with the Corporate Controller, Corporate Audit Manager, and Plant Controller.• Produced and analyzed monthly sales reports ( Adjusted Gross Sales, Cost of Goods Sold, and Standard Margin) with annual revenues of more than $600MM.• Analyzed spend data and filed monthly sales and use tax returns• Prepared and posted monthly journal entries.• Placed fixed assets in service and posted monthly depreciation entry. Reviewed capital projects with Engineering staff monthly to ensure projects were on time, on budget, and closed timely.• Facilitated all internal, external, and governmental financial audits for the mill.• Served as the payroll manager for over 1,000 hourly employees. Reviewed and approved all payroll adjustments. • Served as liaison with Evergreen Corporate Accounting during internal and external audits, the annual budget process, and the month-end close.• Supervised a staff of 5 (2 direct (Payroll and Finance Clerks) and 3 indirect reports (Pulp &Power, Inventory, and Sales Clerks).

• Managed the annual SG&A budget process for all corporate cost centers which included developing the budget template, updating headcount and benefits information, reviewing with Cost Center owners (V.P.'s or Directors), uploading, and reporting.• Prepared and distributed preliminary monthly SG&A Budget vs. Actual reporting to area owners prior to month-end close to correct potential errors, investigated significant variances, and reviewed final results with upper management.• Prepared and posted monthly benefits entries for all locations. • Corporate Treasury duties included initiating both domestic and international wire transfers, daily cash flow reporting, and all bank reconciliations
