Patrick Teegarden recently returned to Colorado State Government as the Legislative and Policy Director for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.Previously, he worked as a consultant to Civic Results and the Metro Denver Health and Wellness Commission. He has been involved in public policy, politics, and grassroots advocacy efforts in Colorado since 1976, and has worked extensively at the state, local and federal levels of government. He also worked for several years (2006-2009) in major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S. on zoning, land use, and low-income-housing tax credits for affordable housing. Mr. Teegarden served in the administrations of Colorado Governors Roy Romer and Bill Owens (1995-2001) as the senior policy and legislative director for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). Mr. Teegarden also worked as an attorney at Patton Boggs, LLP, concentrating on environment/natural resources, healthcare, alternative dispute resolution, and regulatory matters. From 1983 through 1990, he worked as Government Relations staff to the Denver Chamber of Commerce, participating in elections and other approvals for Denver International Airport, site selection for Denver Convention Center, Coors Field, and other civic projects. He also previously worked in Washington, D.C., as staff to the U.S. House of Representatives Committees on the Budget and on Energy and Commerce. Mr. Teegarden has served on a variety of volunteer boards and commissions in Colorado, including the State Board of Land Commissioners, the health and environment transition committees for Denver Mayor Hickenlooper and Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, and the Sand Creek Greenway, among others.Specialties: Legislative and Administrative law and policy; Negotiation, Facilitation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution; Civic Engagement and building Community and Public/Private Partnerships around specific issues of concern.
