Practiced direct patient care, with a primary focus on cardiovascular disease and pre-operative and post-operative surgeries at the Vancouver General Hospital. Diagnoses of population includes - but is not limited to - non-ST elevated and ST elevated myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass grafts, aortic aneurysm repairs and replacements, valve repairs, and congestive heart failure.Collaborated with multiple colleagues from the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Surgery ICU in a surgical site infection focus group aiming to reduce the incidence of SSIs during and after cardiac surgeries, utilizing peer reviewed and evidence-based literature to guide our study.

Employed as a student nurse at Richmond Hospital's 3 North and 3 South acute medical units, where I consolidated my skills as a prospective nurse in a patient population whose primary diagnoses included chronic disease exacerbation, pneumonia, gastrointestinal infections, and stroke.

Re-established the University of British Columbia (UBC) as a chapter in the Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA) after a multiple year hiatus by collaborating with school administration and conducting a student vote.Represented the UBC as a voting member of the CNSA, where I was involved in voicing student opinion at the school, provincial, and national levels. Conferences I attended include the western regional conference in Edmonton, and the national conference in Saskatoon, where we debated on several nursing student issues that members felt the CNSA needed a stance on, such as the use of smart phones in practice and standard methods in school admission interviews.Helped in the recruitment of new chapters in British Columbia, such as Langara College and the University of Northern British Columbia in an effort to increase western representation.

Admitted patients into the clinic, and managed their health care information and charts. Entered the MSP claims associated with each patient's visit for the physician. Conducted urinalysis and pregnancy tests using patient urine samples.

Assisted in the laboratories of Dr. Sandra Dunn, Dr. Catherine Pallen, and Dr. Bruce Verchere by preparing and sterilizing experimental instruments, conducting immunofluorescent staining on tissue slides, centrifuging blood samples, and keeping a log of chemicals used.
