Bridge Maintenance Coordinator
Current- Coordinate with PennDOT district design staff, bridge inspection staff, county maintenance, and district maintenance to plan, schedule, and facilitate maintenance to state owned bridges. Planning can be short term for urgent repairs and long term for planned annual maintenance. - Planning includes determining the proper repair, assessing the priority of the repair relative to other needed maintenance, determining if county maintenance has the capacity to perform the repair or if it is to be contracted out, estimation of quantity of material needed for repair, determining what equipment will be needed for repair, estimation of timeframe for repair, and any further coordination needed such as traffic control, traffic detours, environmental permitting, environmental restrictions, and financial restraints. - Maintenance includes but is not limited to: scour control, repairs to concrete, steel, stone masonry, and/or timber, sediment and/or debris removal, repair or replacement of bridge safety features and replacement of bridge components. - Acquire environmental permits required for bridge maintenance including Chapter 105 General Permits and EXX-9999 Permits.- Provide field guidance to PennDOT county maintenance crews performing maintenance on bridges in the form of answering questions and using engineering judgement to make field decisions. - Assure bridge maintenance was completed correctly and document its completion. Completion of maintenance is to be documented by PennDOT Bridge Maintenance System, SAP, and Keystone Environmental ePermitting System if any permits were acquired.
