Performs ASME Code Design in accordance with Section VIII Division 1 and 2 utilizing both design by rule and design by analysis methods. Helps clients to make run/repair/replace decisions of aging infrastructure by utilizing the Level 2 and Level 3 analysis methodologies of API-579 Fitness for Service to evaluate damaged equipment.Utilizes both Linear and Non-Linear Finite Element Analysis for equipment design and evaluation. In addition to providing remote client support, provides on-site problem solving support during scheduled plant maintenance shutdowns.

As a mechanical engineer with the knowledge of fixed equipment, I was responsible for performing evaluation of new and aging equipment in accordance with API and ASME Codes to minimize production downtime for maintenance activities. To ensure inherently safe design of plant equipment, was responsible for the review of the mechanical design of vessels, piping, and structural members for both capital and non-capital work. By both leading and supporting capital project teams, I developed strong relationships with both internal and external resources.In my time at Cristal I utilized ASME and API codes to determine the fitness for service of damaged plant equipment, and develop repair plans to extend vessel life to the next major outage. In preparation for outages or during unplanned shutdowns, I authored repair plans for damaged equipment in accordance with NBIC and wrote and reviewed R-Stamp repair plans.Using Six Sigma I was able to reduce the instances of an equipment failure by a factor of two from 2012 to 2013, an approximate savings of $650K in lost production and maintenance costs.Performed vendor audits and off-site inspections of both new and repaired equipment to ensure compliance with internal QA requirements and the relevant codes and standards.
