I began my journey in accounting while working at the Blackstone Hotel. At the time I had no experience in the field, and had to prove to our Controller that I was worth the risk. Through diligence and hard work, I learned the fundamental accounting principles that I rely on to this day. When I was ready to branch out, I moved into my current role with Mintel, and since then I have grown, first into the Staff Accountant Role, and later into the Accounts Payable Lead position.Throughout my tenure I have seen to a wide array of tasks, including posting and paying invoices, processing journal entries, reviewing our bank reconciliations, fixed assets, posting cash, overseeing our company’s corporate Amex program, reviewing employee expenses, processing corporate income tax payments, and various month-end and adhoc reporting. Annually, I have also processed and mailed 1099’s, and reported unclaimed property to the State of Illinois.Aside from general duties, I have been involved in several largescale projects, such as rewriting and updating Mintel’s travel policy, and implementing various add-ons and modifications to our ERP. Recently I was integral in creating and implementing our company’s purchase order procedure. I worked with SAP Concur support advisors to build out the functionality, and wrote and distributed all the training documents used companywide, and I am now the point person on all purchase order questions companywide.Through this wide array of tasks, I have become highly proficient in Excel, and the go-to person for all things relating to SAP Concur and Microsoft Dynamics GP. I am also quite proficient in Adobe acrobat, as well as the entire Microsoft Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
